Estes Park Elk Fest

To celebrate the annual elk rut and learn about the “wapiti,” the Native American name for elk, Estes Park hosts the annual Elk Fest in Bond Park. The free festival features bugling contests, elk exhibits, the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program, elk seminars, elk-inspired arts and crafts, Native American music, dancing and storytelling, a children’s area with elk-themed activities, and a craft beer garden. For safe & respectful elk viewing tips, please visit Estes Park’s Wildlife Watching page. Longmont Chalk Art Street Fair & Bin Market

Bin 46 Wine Bar & Restaurant is teaming up with Firehouse Art Center to bring new vibrancy to the community art scene this Fall with the kick off of the Longmont Chalk Art Street Fair & Bin Market. The Fair is a free two-day street-painting festival where 25 artists spend hours on their hands and knees over the course of two days turning the streets of Longmont into a vivid canvas of colorful chalk art. The goal of the event is to create a venue for artists, vendors and visitors alike to enjoy live-art, music and local artisan vendors for a fun family weekend. There will also be a special Pop up Dinner on Saturday evening– stroll along the street and view the art in progress while enjoying a special food and wine dinner under the stars hosted by Bin 46 Wine Bar & Restaurant. Manhattan Short Film Festival

Filmgoers in Boulder can unite with over 100,000 film-lovers around the world during the week of Sept 28 – Oct 8 when the 20th Annual MANHATTAN SHORT Film Festival screens at the Dairy Arts Center Boedecker Theater. The 10 MANHATTAN SHORT finalists hail from nine countries with films from Syria, Latvia and Georgia representing their respective countries for the first time in this event. Two short films hail from Spain, the only country with multiple Final 10 selections. These Final 10 short films represent the best short films among a record 1615 submissions from 75 countries received by MANHATTAN SHORT for 2017, testimony to the enduring vibrancy and creativity of short films. This year’s Final 10 represent an extraordinary range of film genres with comedy, drama, horror, sci-fi, animation and martial arts short films all part of the MANHATTAN SHORT program.

The Pumpkins and Pilsners Festival has activities and entertainment for all ages, with proceeds going to local non-profit Families for Estes. The festival is perfect place to pick your pumpkins with live music and craft beer for the adults, as well as games, crafts and a bounce house for the little ones. Enjoy additional free children’s activities like pony rides (free from 1-4pm), face painting, kids art activity booths, bounce house and giant lawn games. Challenge your friends in the strider mini-bike course (bikes and helmets provided). The pumpkin patch sells pumpkins for only $5 each and you can set them aside in the well-guarded ‘sold’ corral while you enjoy the fun. Raffle tickets will be sold for $1 each for your chance to win some fabulous prizes! Each year a hand-picked selection of seasonal, local craft beers are on hand. Open Studios hosts the Open Studios Tour, opening the doors of over 100 artist studios in and around Boulder to the public. Discover the spaces where artists create, learn a bit about their creative process and support the local creative community by purchasing art directly from the artist. Check out the Preview Exhibit at the Boulder Public Library, featuring one piece from each artist at the library’s Canyon Gallery. A reception will be held October 6 from 6:30 – 8:30PM, $15 suggested donation at the door. The exhibit will be on display through October 23, 2017.

Looking for something fun and FREE to do with your children on BVSD’s Fall In-service Day on Friday, October 13th? Celebrate the transition into Fall with Thorne Nature Experience at the Sombrero Marsh Environmental Education Center for the Thorne Fall Fest. We will have face-painting, nature explorations around the Sombrero Marsh with Thorne staff, pumpkin decorating, and dancing and singing in rainbow socks with our favorite nature performers Jeff & Paige! Light refreshments provided by in-kind donors, pack a picnic if desired. 10am-11am: Activities including pumpkin decorating, bird-watching, face painting, dip netting in the mini wetland, and nature explorations. 11am-Noon: Concert and dancing by Jeff & Paige. This event will mostly be outdoors, rain or shine. Please plan for the weather. Bring sunscreen, layers, and water.

Let’s do the time warp again! The Rocky Horror Show is back at The Longmont Theatre Company with much of the 2014 cast returning including Bonnie & Taylor of Bonnie and the Clydes. This is the actual stage show, NOT a re-enactment of the film while the movie is running. Dammit, Janet, this is LIVE and 3D! Discover whatever happened to Saturday Night! And, what about… The Floor Show? About the Costume Contest – Only at the 11pm show:  No real weapons. Any simulated body parts must be from outside the “swimsuit” zone. Costumes must provide at least “swimsuit” coverage. No thongs, pasties, etc. In general, keep it PG-13 or milder.

The Town of Erie’s Trunk or Treat event has moved downtown and expanded, bring you Boo! on Briggs Street. Trunks will be parked in the parking lots on the southeast corner of Wells and Briggs and the northeast corner of Moffat and Briggs in Erie. Boo! on Briggs Street will feature costume contests (ages 0-8, 9+ ($5) and group/theme ($10)). Pre-register to reserve your spot in the costume contest here.. The night will be capped off with a glow-in-the-dark dance party complete with a professional DJ and complimentary glow-in-the-dark giveaways for the kids.

The world famous Eerie Erie is a Halloween themed 5k and 10k race that runs through historic downtown Erie and takes advantage of our beautiful trail system that weaves along Coal Creek open space areas. The 10k passes by scenic Pleasant Hill Cemetery with panoramic views and where friendly spirits can’t wait to visit this year’s runners. Eerie Erie is the primary fund raiser for the Optimist Club of Erie, a non-profit organization whose sole mission is to benefit the children of our community by funding youth specific events, programs and activities throughout the year.

Halloween Parade and Trick or Treat Street

Dress up in your Halloween Costume, for Longmont’s Halloween Parade on Main Street and visit Downtown participating merchants for Trick or Treat Street immediately following the parade. Kids of all ages can be a part of this costume foot parade. No registration is required!  Strollers or wagons are recommended for tiny feet; no motorized vehicles or large animals. Dogs must be leashed. 9:30AM: Line-up in front of the St. Vrain Memorial Building.10AM: Foot Parade Start!  Come in costume! Broomfield Spooktacular

Monster Dash 5K, 10K & Kids Races

Check out Louisville’s Halloween race — Monster Dash! This year’s theme is ZOMBIES, so throw on your costume and get ready to run. There will be 2 distance choices, the 5k “Fun Run” is for the entire family to run together (Ages 5 and up)…strollers allowed. The 10k Race is for the bit more serious runners going for a place in their age divisions. Immediately following the 5k and 10k, there will be 3 different races for the “Little Zombies” ranging from 1/4 mile to 1 full mile. Kids receive custom kids bib, glow stick, meal, milk/drink, kids candy, finisher medal and cool finisher gift. Post-event activities include a costume contest, trick or treating for kids as well as a party where adults will receive one free beer from Avery and kids receive free juice or soda. A Nederland favorite, the Carousel of Happiness becomes the Carousel of Spookiness every year at Halloween. The Carousel of Happiness is Nederland Colorado’s magical menagerie featuring 56 whimsical, hand-carved animals on a restored 1910 Looff carousel, turning to the music of a 1913 Wurlitzer band organ. On Halloween, the Carousel host a Kids Costume Contest, Trick or Treat Surprises and Spooky Carousel Rides for $1.
