In the wild world around us, everything is connected. Curious Connections in Nature is a new exhibition at the CU Museum of Natural History that delves into these connections through hands-on activities, multi-media displays, and specimens from the Museum’s collection. The exhibition highlights symbiosis in our bodies, our backyards and beyond. Discover the role of the prairie dog in Colorado’s grasslands, learn about the microbes we host in our bodies, and explore the amazing world of lichens, diatoms, and much more.

The Yesteryear Farm Show at the Dougherty Museum features working displays of antique tractors and farm machinery, steam engines, stationary engines, threshing and baling demonstrations, blacksmithing, spinning and weaving, square dancing, even an ice cream social! Lyons Zero Waste Concert and Carnival

You’re never too young to be eco-friendly. In its latest effort to become a Green Star Zero Waste community—that is, to achieve 90 percent recovery of discarded goods by waste reduction, composting, and recycling—the Town of Lyons is courting its littlest tree-huggers with this family-friendly environmental fair. Take in a festival full of acrobats, face-painting, and Zero Waste-themed games and educational booths, then stick around for the headlining act: a performance from kids’ entertainers Jeff and Paige featuring new songs and skits written just for this event.

Movie in the Park – Harry and the Hendersons

When: Saturday, August 26

Where: Erie Community Park, 450 Powers St, Erie, Colorado 80516

Time: 8:30 – 10:30 PM

Relax with the kids for an evening of free family entertainment to watch Harry and the Hendersons at Erie Community Park. Bring your blankets or lawn chairs and snacks. The movie will began at dusk (around 8:30 p.m.) and end by 10:30 p.m.

Experience the adventure with powerful images and music, an immense and challenging dream, for which mankind has strived since the beginning of history. “Dream to Fly” describes the most important milestones on our route to conquering the skies—both in terms of technological breakthroughs, as well as our perceptions on flying itself.

The Great Erie Outdoor Adventure

Time: Begins August 26 at 12PM, Ends August 27 at 9AM

Cost: $45/per campsite Resident of Erie, $56/per campsite Non-resident

Ages: All Ages

The Town of Erie, along with Erie Parks & Rec is hosting this outdoor and nature-based event! Enjoy overnight camping in Erie Community Park plus other activities such as a variety of vendors, kayak tank, paddle board tank, quad jump, zip line, outdoor movie, light breakfast on Sunday and more! Campsites will not be assigned and will be on a first-come, first-serve basis the day of the event. Pre-registration is still required. Dinner will be available for purchase from the following food trucks: Comida, Mac Shack and Suburban Wiener.

Art Stop at the Boulder Museum Of Contemporary Art provides free, hands-on art making for families during the Boulder County Farmers’ Market. Held outdoors on the front porch of the museum, creative inter-generational projects are designed to complement exhibitions within the museum, as well as the colors, shapes, and textures of the market. Don’t forget to visit the exhibitions inside the museum. Admission is always free during the market!
